When we remove a tree, it is cut to approximately 1 ft from ground level.  Our service includes hauling away debris from the tree removal. Stump grinders mulch up the remaining tree stump which fills in the hole left by the removal of the tree and stump. Apart from being an eyesore, it is important to grind the stump to discourage insects from feeding on the remaining dead tree stump.  Stump grinding does not include the roots which can be plentiful and all over the yard. Grinding all roots would harm the grass. An exception would be cypress knees. Please discuss with the representative that comes to your property to decide what is best for your situation.
